BUIZEN 48 SERIES 3 CHASING LINE HONOURS IN BOAT OF THE YEAR AWARDS

The newest evolution of the iconic Buizen 48 is already making its mark in reaching the finals of the 2008 AMIF Australian Marine Awards. It is a finalist not only in its category but is also in the running for the major 'Australian Boat of the Year' award. Known as the 'Buizen 48 Series 3', this new yacht will make its official debut at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.

Among the many innovations that make up the Series 3, perhaps the most obvious exterior change is the optional Midnight Blue colour. This durable epoxy paint system provides a stunning alternative to the standard white hull and gives the Series 3 a heightened look of distinction and on-water presence.

Skippers will appreciate how the cockpit steering pedestal and command instrumentation console have been redesigned for greater user-friendliness as much as style. New stainless steel throttle controls have been installed in the cockpit and helm. There's also the choice of a hydraulic adjustable boom vang which can be conveniently operated from the cockpit. The standard autopilot has been upgraded to the latest Raymarine 8002 series while the addition of a new 'Dago' Marine double arm windscreen wiper improves visibility.

Inside, a full American Cherry timber fitout imparts a look of classic richness to this hand-built all-Australian yacht. Complementing the bespoke elegance of the interior, the stateroom features the 'B' symbol of the Buizen logo inlaid into the solid teak floor. Owners are offered a choice of modern flush-fitting main cabin doors and solid timber louvre banks. All cupboards now feature redesigned latches. A new larger island bed in the forward stateroom adds to the comfort of the spacious, well-appointed interior.

Bathrooms feature a solid teak floor and a handcrafted teak seat in the shower stall. New vitreous china Caroma 'Cube' basins recessed into Corian benchtops together with new stainless steel 'Broadware' tapsets in the galley and bathroom add renewed elegance and practicality.

The hydraulic flow to the winches has been upgraded. In the engine room and plantroom a significant number of improvements have been made to ensure easier maintenance. The release of the Series 3 will further reinforce the Buizen 48 as the consummate ocean going sailor that offers the comforts of a motor cruiser, with its sail power offering a highly attractive proposition in the face of rising fuel costs. The Buizen 48 Series 3 can be inspected at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show F-Arm 501, the event at which the winners of the AMIF Boat of the Year Awards will be announced.
